Serve on the New Alumni Council!

Since the Alumni Association re-formed itself last year as an independent organization, we have done a lot. We built membership from the ground up – even just finding Marlboro alumni was not an easy task. We started an archives committee and a campus committee that made a real difference last year. We talked a lot on Facebook and email and everywhere else about what Marlboro was and could be. And, of course, we tried to get Marlboro College to survive and thrive. When the school finally ended in July and August, the Association faced an impasse.

But even though the school is now gone, the Alumni Association is not going anywhere. Marlboro alumni are more important now than ever – from preserving our memories of the place to, as Tom Ragle urged us, preserving liberal education everywhere.

The Alumni Association will continue and in order to do so, we must elect a new Alumni Council. Nominate yourself or others* now. Send an email with the name, graduation year/associated year, and email address of your nominees to info@marlborocollegealumniassociation.com by September 10. Elections will be held in October 2020. (*If you’re nominating someone else, please cc: them in your email.)

The new council will have nine positions, all serving at-large. It would be great to get a group of people who represent the diversity of Marlboro alumni, but there are no separate positions for region or time period. Further, should the new council decide to have the traditional structure of President, Treasurer, Secretary, etc. they may choose to do so once elected.

The Alumni Council governs and operates the Marlboro College Alumni Association. In doing so, they can devise their own initiatives, and of course, respond to the needs of all of us – the Association members. The Interim Council that has been serving has many ideas we will pass onto the new council, and we promise to help in any way we can. But we’re ready to pass the baton to new leaders.

Who is eligible to serve and to vote? Anyone who ever attended Marlboro College in Marlboro, VT, for any length of time, is eligible to serve as a council member and vote in elections. In addition, any friend of the college (including former faculty and staff) who have joined the Association may serve and vote.

We need you to shape the next chapter in Marlboro’s story. Run for a position on the Marlboro College Alumni Council.

Nominate yourself or others by email to info@marlborocollegealumniassociation.com by September 10.

Elections to be held virtually in October 2020.
