Sean Pyles

Candidate Profile – 2022 Alumni Council Election

Sean Pyles, 2013

Sean Pyles

I’m Sean Pyles, alum of the 2013 graduating class, based in the Pacific Northwest. For work, I am the executive producer and host of the Smart Money podcast at the personal finance website NerdWallet. Off the clock I spend a lot of time gardening, painting and walking my dog with my partner. Marlboro College inspired an upstart, creative mindset in all that I do and is where I made some of the most meaningful friendships of my life.

From starting zines in college to creating a top podcast from scratch, Marlboro showed me that with grit, strong relationships and a focus on clear communication, you can achieve anything. I want to serve on the Alumni Council to help foster a truly effective platform for alumni engagement, community and shared purpose. My experience in building teams to create unconventional products that better the lives of its users would help me successfully execute this vision.

Given the early stage of the Alumni Council, I think it’s crucial to establish a welcoming tone and clear purpose for the organization. The alumni of Marlboro College are a unique group with diverse interests and skill sets. If we create a useful platform for these individuals to connect, we will be able to encourage meaningful conversations, opportunities for professional development and expand the ethos of Marlboro College for years to come.
