Time to Vote!
Introducing the Candidates for Alumni Council
We are really pleased to have eight worthy candidates running for four seats. They are: Allison Gammons ‘03, Frederick Gray ‘71, Eric Hanser ‘03, Sarah Horowitz ‘10, Shaw Israel Izikson ‘98, Bridget Mudd ‘01, Michael Rasalan 01, and Catherine Willis ‘71.
Please see the 2024 Roster of Candidates to view their photos, candidate bios, and statements.
Note from the Committee
You might notice that one of the members of the elections and nomination committee has been nominated and is now running for a seat on the council. We thank Allison Gammons ‘03 so much for her work on the committee to this point, and appreciate her willingness to recuse herself. At the request of the committee, Allison will continue to do some tech support for our MCAA communications, but she will not be involved with any of the voting or tallying processes of the election. We share this in the interest of transparency.
Current and Outgoing Council Members
Outgoing members of council whose seats will be filled in this election are: Ellie Roark ‘12 (current council president), Pamela Witte Nye ‘93, Bar Clark ‘89, and Jack Rossiter-Munley ‘12. We thank all of the outgoing members for their service! Current council members who will remain include Carrie Cleveland ‘02, Franklin Crump ‘07, Charlie Israel ‘05, Jennie Tucker ‘67, and Dan Woodbury ‘78. More information about the current council members can be found on the Alumni Council page of our website.
Ballot and Elections
The election will be open from November 18 through November 25. All Association members will receive an electronic ballot in their email. If you are receiving this message, you will get a ballot! More information about the election is on the MCAA website, including Details and Timeline, and Election Rules.
Proposed Changes to the Bylaws
Two changes to the bylaws have been proposed this year, and association members will vote on whether or not ratify them. One proposes to change the number of council members required for quorum and the other proposes to decrease the frequency of council elections from every year to every other year. Read the proposed changes, and their rationales.
Results and Next Steps
After voting has closed, we will tally the votes, verify the election, and notify the candidates of the results. Once the winning candidates have accepted their seats, the results will be announced to the association. Per the bylaws adopted by the association this will be no later than December 2nd.
Thank You!
Thanks so much to everyone who nominated a friend, considered running, or even “respectfully declined” and said hello in the process. (We’re still working on replying to all your messages!) And thanks especially to the eight candidates, whose enthusiasm and dedication is inspiring. Enormous thanks also to association member and MCAA webmaster Erik Olson for helping to get the candidate and bylaw pages up on the MCAA website. We couldn’t do it without you.
Sincerely,
Kate Hollander '02, chair (alumni council 2020-2022)
Franklin Crump ‘07 (current alumni council)
Ellie Roark '12 (current alumni council president)
Jennie Tucker ‘67 (current alumni council)
