Candidate Profile – 2022 Alumni Council Election
Nakita Richards, 2012
Nakita Richards
Marlboro College across my three enrollments and 10 year close association, has been a defining part of my life. Watching it change between 2011 and 2018 was strange, in my experience. Working with the development fundraising team in my first year and in marketing and program support with the Art and Dance studios by my third, my experience doing community organizing and fundraising for nonprofits and striving after knowledge in building community awareness on and offline could be helpful to bringing more alumni together. My experience with representative government within an institution began in high school serving as President on the Student Council. When running for Selectperson in 2017, I came in second with over 70 votes.
I want to serve this community because I know it is unlike any other, and our individual and shared memories involving MC are unique treasures worth rehashing, and the lives we build after our MC experience never fully divorced from our impressionable years in Marlboro. Giving alumni an opportunity to connect and learn about each other in ways that the Potash Hill magazine previously did in sort of miniature revival of the magazine would I think be an important part of keeping everyone informed and relating to one another. Additionally, alumni reunion events I see as being central to establishing and building momentum and connection with the alumni community and activities of the MCAA.
