Class Notes FAQ
-
Anyone who is a member of the association is welcome to share a class note for posting in the “Class Notes” pages of the Marlboro College Alumni Association website.
-
The “Class Notes” pages of the MCAA website are publicly viewable by anyone with access to the World Wide Web. The MCAA currently does not use member logins which is why the notes are viewable by anyone.
-
There are two ways that you can submit your contribution:
1.) Click on the “Submissions” button on this page and complete the online form;
2.) Send an email to info@marlborocollegealumniassociation.com and use the phrase “Class Note Submission” for the subject line. -
Class Notes are generally framed around milestone events in one’s life. Typical news that people share include weddings, births, deaths, educational or professional achievements, moving to a new place, and reunions of members of the Marlboro community. If you don’t feel that you have “major news” to share, feel free to submit something that is significant to you, or even simply a check-in message to let the community know how your are doing at this point in your life.
-
Yes! But we can only receive images as attachments to email submissions of Class Notes. Whether it is a recent picture relevant to a milestone you are sharing, or an older photo from your time at Marlboro, we welcome your images with your Class Notes.
-
Our hope is to publish Class Notes as they are submitted with as quick of a turn-around as we can manage. Since the MCAA is entirely volunteer run, it may turn out to be more like once a month, or once a quarter. We will update this answer once we have a better sense of what is realistic.
-
The majority of Class Notes are edited before they are published. This is standard practice with alumni associations. For the time being, we anticipate editing Class Notes as part of our publishing practice.
-
The short answer is “yes.” Our publishing practices are still being formed and so the format our Class Notes take may evolve over time. In general, Class Notes are written in the third person. You can see some examples of Class Notes on the “Submissions” page.
